The History of Nemezhis Secondary School
… started in August, 1945 when a primary school was opened. It was located in several buildings. Two teachers were working at school: a headmaster Seif Aksanov and a teacher Marija Aksanova. Maths, Lithuanian, Russian, Literature, Geography, Nature, Physical Training, Technology, Music were taught there. There were 80 students in 1948-1949.
1951 primary Polish classes were opened.
1953 it became seven year teaching school, 98 pupils were taught there.
1963 it became 8 year school, 176 students were taught there.
1965 it moved to a new two-storey building.
1969-1970 it became Nemezhis Secondary School. 412 students have already been taught there.
1983 a new brick 2 storey school building with spacious classrooms, a Hall, a Gym, a canteen and a library were built. A gorgeous stadium with sport facilities was built too.
1985 the first Lithuanian class was opened. 9 students were in it.
Since 2010-09-01 Nemezhis St. R. Kalinauskas gymnasium has two departments:
A department of Grigaiciai secondary education, a decision of Municipality Council of Vilnius region ‘Reorganisation and reconstruction of internal structure of educational institutions of Vilnius region’, June 23, 2010, No T3-207;
A department of Veliucioniai secondary education, a decision of Municipality Council of Vilnius region ‘Reorganisation of Vilnius Region Airenai and Veliucioniai basic schools and reconstructions of internal structure of Vilnius region Maisiagala priest Juzef Obremskis secondary school, Maisiagala great duke of Lithuania Algirdas secondary school and Vilnius Region St. R. There is a set of 41 classes in gymnasium in 2010-2011.
There is set of 33 classes in Nemezhis, where 568 students are studying:
20 classes are studying in the Lithuanian taught language: 0a,1a, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 4a, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b, I G, II G, III E, III G, and IV G; 358 students are studying;
13 classes are studying in the Polish taught language: 0c,1c, 2c, 3c, 4c, 5c, 6c, 7c, 8c, I C, II C, III C, IV C; 210 students are studying;
There is a set of 5 classes in a department of Grigaiciai secondary education, where 38 students are studying:
3 classes are studying in the Polish taught language: 0k,1k – 3k, 2k – 4k, 21 students are studying;
2 classes are studying in the Russian taught language: 1r – 4r, 2r – 3r, 17 students are studying;
There is a set of 3 classes in a department of Veliucioniai secondary education, where 22 students are studying:
2 classes are studying in the Lithuanian taught language: 1s – 3s, 2s – 4s; 16 students are studying;
1 class is studying in the Polish taught language: 3p – 4 p; 6 students are studying;
Total number of studying students is 628.
